The ongoing presence of British troops was growing unwanted in Boston, Massachusetts. Eventually, on March 5th, 1770 a mob of colonists took to the streets and attacked a soldier. This led the British soldiers to violence,
who killed three and wounded eight more colonists. A hearing was held in the wake of the massacre and two British soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter. This event is important because it signals a turning point in the relationship between England and the colonies in America that will lead to the Revolutionary War. |
