Pete Rose was an American baseball player who played professionally in the MLB. He is the only hitter ever to reach 4,000 hits in a career, as he finished with 4,256. However, despite his incredible baseball career and great talent, he is most famous for his betting scandal. During this, he bet on his team to win in 52 different games, which is against MLB rules. For this, he was declared banned from baseball for life and thus is ineligible to enter the hall of fame. Historically, this has been very controversial as there are those who believe he deserves a spot in the Hall-of-Fame, and those who believe he tainted the tenured history of the MLB.
