The Watergate Scandal involved a break-in to the Democratic National Committee headquarters located in the Watergate buildings in Washington D.C. where documents were stolen, and phones were tapped. The burglars were caught and found to be connected to President Richard Nixon’s re-election campaign. President Nixon took various steps to cover up the scandal and when he was his role in this conspiracy was revealed he resigned from office in August 1974.
