Nintendo was founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi in 1889, producing Hanafuda cards (a traditional style of Japanese playing cards.) The company then went on to produce toys in the 1960s and developed its first arcade game in the 1970s. Over the course of decades, Nintendo’s innovation and marketing made it one of the most successful video game companies in the world.
