Beginning in 1872, Yellowstone National Park was established for the benefit of the public and to be protected land in the United States. Following this, President Woodrow Wilson created the National Park Service in 1916 to oversee these areas of the country and ensure their protection against development or demolition. Today, there are over 400 national parks that serve as recreation destinations and retain the original beauty of the country.
