The Minnesota Human Rights Act was signed into MN law in 1967. This law gave legal rights to groups that did not have it at the time, making it against the law to discriminate due to someone's race, ethnicity, or religion. It applied to jobs, education and other public rights. The Department of Human Rights was created to help to oversee these issues.
