Second Mayo Clinic Office, Rochester, 1911. Minnesota Historical Society.
Following a devastating tornado in Rochester, MN, William Worrall Mayo, along with his two sons, William and Charles, opened a new hospital to ensure medical care to those living in the area. The most innovative ideas out of the new hospital centered around "group practice" and encouraging collaboration among doctors. This shared practice continues to help keep Mayo Clinic as one of the most prominent and well-respected hospitals of today.
