Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Civil Rights activist who believed in civil disobedience (non-violent protests). Beginning with the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955, King soon became one of the most prominent leaders of the Civil Rights movement - leading the March on Washington and delivering his "I have a dream" speech. He eventually won the Nobel Peace Prize and was later assassinated in 1968.
