Marie Curie was the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize for her breakthrough work on radiation. During her work, she discovered the scientific elements of Polonium and Radium. Curie's experiments with radioactivity eventually led to her pioneering the use of portable X-ray machines and a second Nobel Peace Prize.
