‘Loving v. Virginia’ (1967) was a Supreme Court landmark Civil Rights decision that abolished laws prohibiting miscegenation or interracial marriage. Richard Loving, a white man, and Mildred Loving, a black woman, fought for their right to marry when Richard was sentenced to one year in prison for violating Virginia’s anti-miscegenation statute and the Racial Integrity Act of 1924.
