The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years’ War, lasted from 1756 to 1763. France’s expansions into the Ohio River valley as well as other territories, brought conflict between the British colonies and lead to a series of battles before the British declared war in 1756. The French fought the war alongside their Indian allies, who owned the land, against the British colonists. Ultimately the British had won the war and the French and Indian war concluded the Treaty of Paris. In the end, Great Britain gain possession of Canada as well as other territory that were east of the United States and the Mississippi River.
