Che Guevara has become one of the most controversial figures in modern history for his political beliefs. Following some hardship, Guevara became a far leftist and Marxist, using his beliefs to become involved in guerrilla battles, particularly in Cuba. Guevara arrived in Cuba with Raul and Fidel Castro and became an important commander in helping to overthrow the current government. He later served in the new government and was the final say of convicted war criminals while leading a literacy campaign for the country. During his time in Cuba, he also began documenting his experiences and became a military theorist, playing roles in both the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis. When he left Cuba in 1965, he hoped to help other countries begin their own revolutions but was captured by the CIA and executed in Bolivia. Time Magazine later named him one of the 100 most influential people of the twentieth century for his actions.
