During the Vietnam War many Americans protested against the war, and these protests increased when the was expanded into Cambodia. Many people were protesting, including students. In May of 1970, about 900 campuses around the US, including the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus organized a strike. They asked the students, faculty and staff to strike from their normal learning to focus on discussions around the War and demand the US immediately leave Southeast Asia.
