D-Day was an Allied invasion on the Axis forces on June 6th, 1944. D-Day took place on Normandy Beach in France. Prior to this, the Allies did not have a foothold in Europe to fight back against the Axis Powers. While D-Day was a very bloody battle and almost 10,000 lives were lost, it was was crucial in helping the allied powers win World War II.
