In October of 1969, 14 black players were dismissed from the Wyoming Cowboys football team. They were dismissed for asking to wear black armbands at a game against BYU. A year prior, the players from BYU were racist against the black players of Wyoming. Along with the player's racism, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was known for its racist policies. The players being dismissed led to losing the rest of the season and a court battle.
